With a typical subscription, you choose the products and the provider ships them. BLNC first reviews your genetic information to determine what to send. We use a two-layer interpretation: the first layer analyzes 22 nutrients, and the second examines broader genetic tendencies. After cross-checking the two layers, we assemble six products for each month from 11 fixed formulas. Both are subscription services; the difference is who decides what is included.

No. Gently swab the inside of your cheek a few times with an oral swab. It takes only a few dozen seconds, requires no blood draw or fasting, and can be completed at home. After collection, mail the sample back to our laboratory.

After the sample is returned to the laboratory, the expected report turnaround time is 15 business days.

Your genes do not change, so one test is sufficient. Subsequent monthly formulas will continue to use the same interpretation results for recurring shipments, so repeat testing is not required.

The first 15 days establish a foundation by supporting a steady daily nutritional baseline. The latter 15 days provide more targeted support in the areas you may need to strengthen. Building a foundation first and then deepening support also keeps the daily number of supplements small, making the routine easier to follow consistently over time.

After the test, you will first receive a report written to be easy to understand. You may also review it with a specialist to better understand your nutritional tendencies. Whether to purchase is your decision. BLNC’s recommendation model remains six products per month: one probiotic is fixed, and the other five are selected based on your genes.

Your genetic information is personal and private; sharing is entirely your decision. However, some genetic traits may be relevant to family members. If family wants to understand their own nutrigenetics, we recommend individual testing for accuracy.

This type of genetic test provides a risk assessment, not an answer to whether you will develop a disease. A risk assessment compares your inherited characteristics with those of a reference population and indicates whether a tendency is relatively higher or lower. It does not make a diagnosis or provide a timeline. A higher tendency does not mean that disease will necessarily develop, and a lower tendency does not mean immunity.

The two approaches answer different questions, so neither is simply more accurate. A questionnaire reflects the diet and lifestyle habits you report, while genotype provides a relatively stable, innate reference that is not affected by recall bias. Research shows that BCMO1 variants are associated with individual differences in beta-carotene conversion efficiency (Lietz et al., 2012), but genes alone do not determine nutrient absorption or nutritional needs. The results should be interpreted together with diet, lifestyle, and health status.

Genetic testing can help you understand how your body tends to use different nutrients and provide a reference for choosing and combining supplements, rather than switching brands by feel. It is one more way to better understand your body.
